Experience Design

A large body of my work is creating experiences, exhibits, and interactive galleries. These range from digital multimedia, websites, physical interactives, and art gallery shows, to full-gallery designs, and museum-wide master planning and design. Creating such extensive projects involves a huge amount of problem solving, collaboration, and coordination between clients, project teams, and myself. Succeeding in telling a story, or creatively divulging content to a visitor makes the effort worth it in the end.

Stories = Good design

I believe a successful design is fueled by telling a good story. The only way to do so is to have a good understanding of the end user, the context in which they’re receiving your story, and in-depth knowledge of the content you’re delivering. Color, floorplan, finish details, whatever, none of it matters without a proper base of understanding who the end user is. Each project starts with defining goals with clients, understanding the motivation behind the project, and lots of user research. With those in place, I can begin creating concepts, visuals, and storyboarding the process or visit of a user. These help a client know their message is framed correctly at the start of a project, letting us focus on the details that will help the end product flourish.
